Liminal
LIMINAL is an interactive installation that puts into image the inexorable passage of time. It seeks to reify the border between the present and the past. In a dark space, a luminous arch. It is a temporal portal: when the interactor crosses this demarcation, his reflection projected on the adjacent wall is deployed in time thanks to the slit-scan technique. Like a visual metaphor - the past constantly taking over the present - the projected image ends inexorably in the ethereal whiteness of oblivion. In a sense, the work emphasizes that all light is past - the flicker we see in the night sky is but a bygone snapshot of the firmament: light is the manifestation of events that have already taken place. The sound emitted by the work is spatialized - depending on the position of the interactor in the portal, the tone is altered, resulting in a musicality that prompts the interactor to perform his present, in order to put in place his eventual past. The result is an experience that is both playful and contemplative.
